I’m a Science and Technology Journalist and Editor with over 25 years of experience.
Most recently I was the Editorial Director of Allconnect, a Red Ventures company. There, I set up an SEO driven newsroom built from the ground up to drive both evergreen, educational content and thought leadership traffic to the site. From building editorial dashboards and putting in place SEO processes, to evangelising the worth of quality content to Red Ventures executives, the role encompassed a wide range of both journalistic and management challenges.
Previous to that, for seven years I was the Science and Technology Editor of Dailymail.com, the world’s biggest newspaper website. I led both the London and New York newsrooms, with total responsibility for managing the output of science and tech coverage. I also spearheaded the birth of branded content for Dailymail.com and helped mentor young journalists on the Mail’s trainee scheme.
I’ve also worked as a freelance journalist in San Francisco, where I wrote for publications ranging from Wired, The Telegraph and Pocket Lint to T3 and Stuff. I secured exclusive interviews with industry leaders such as Sir Jonathan Ive at Apple and Amit Singhal, then Google’s head of search.
In the old world of print newspapers, I’ve been on staff as a Science and Technology editor and reporter at The Sunday Times and London Evening Standard.
I’m available both as a freelance journalist/editor, and to advise on a content strategy to help your brand create compelling content people will want to click on, and journalists will want to cover.
Originally from Wales, I currently live in upstate New York with my wife and dog.
